[Kurama opens his eyes to give Ren a look of exaggerated reproach and disappointment.]

[ There's something... sort of awkward as he stares (Akira first, then Kurama) before he shakes his head. Then, after looking to the side, he frowns. ]

Holding out...? More like sparing you.

[ It's said too seriously to be a joke. ]

[Akira's gaze searches Ren for a few moments... And then, suddenly, there's another gasp. Far from looking uneasy, he looks hopeful.]

Bat form?

Hmm, that is common in myths... But that isn't gross.

[Something wistful and nostalgic, if a little sad, creeps into Kurama's mental tone.]

I had a partner a long time ago that was a bat youkai. He had lovely wings.

... There's something awkward and he looks torn - there's a very large swell of nerves, even. But, quickly, he's latching onto this new topic. ]

[His hand comes up and lightly catches the other's jaw, trying to steer his gaze towards him. He's going to try to offset those nerves by gently instilling some calm.]

I'm not going to force you to say or show anything you don't want to. But... I think you'd be cute even if your animal form was a blobfish.

[A small, lightly playful smile surrounded by fondness.]

...Kuronue. His name was Kuronue and I hope you don't think you're subtle, Ren.

[Kurama stretches and pushes himself up to a sitting position, tails curled around his paws.]

But...yes. Anything you share with us is your choice.

[ His cheeks flush a bit at the touch to his face, and he lets out a quiet sound after they both call him out. ]

... I know. It's-

[ Ren releases a slow breath as he turns his head and presses his cheek into that hand. ]

-not that easy?

[ There's a pause. ]

Everything I learned, I did on my own. The other form is one that requires protection... because of how weak it currently is.

[ With a quiet sigh, he straightens up a little. ]

... But, I trust you two. [ a small, shy smile ] Just don't expect anything badass, I guess? When I say weak...

[He gives a small smile as his hand drops away. Instead, he looks over to Kurama and reaches up, giving him another scratch behind the ears.]

Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you're willing to show us.

[Kurama gives a soft, pleased whine and leans into Akira's hand.]

I don't need you to be strong. I just need you to be you, Ren.

[ Ren's cheeks darken a little more at Kurama's words... ]

[ There's a shy smile that fades, though the shyness lingers, in and of itself.

He releases a small breath, and then he closes his eyes. It's very quick: one second he's there, and then the next? There's a tiny creature sitting there. Said bat lets out a tiny squeak as he stretches his wings. Then, he's peering up at them with some shy nervousness. . . ]

[Akira inhales sharply, eyes widening...]

Kurama. [His hand comes down to the fox's neck and gives a little shake.] Kurama.

[HE ALREADY CAN'T HANDLE THIS?????????]

[Kurama's mental laughter rings clear as a bell at Akira's cute-related distress. He leans down and nuzzles the tiny bat before giving a careful grooming lick to the black fur.]

You're adorable, Ren.

[ There's a squeak of very effortless protest as he ducks his head.

Guess what he can't do? He's just reaching up to get a very tiny tug at whatever fur those tiny paws can grab.

Though, Akira should be able to sense the fluster. ]

[That's Akira's protest at Kurama licking Ren...]

You both are going to be the death of me.

[But... he reaches over and pets his head with his forefingers.]

Can I pick you up, Ren?

[Kurama sounds terribly amused by Akira's protests. He lays down so he isn't looming over the tiny anymore.]

[ There's a blink at the protest, and he tilts his head at the human. The pet has those eyes closing for a moment... but, after, he's moving over to briefly nuzzle Kurama back.

At the question, there's a tiny squeak. He briefly ducks his head, shyness there, even as he lifts both wings in the universal gesture.

[Akira looks so offended by this cuteness overload????]

[Of course, it doesn't stop him from gently scooping baby Ren up, slowly bringing him up and closer to his face and god... his expression really melts, then.]

[Kurama gives a soft, affectionate trill when Ren nuzzles him. He lays his head on his front paws as he watches Akira pick Ren up.]

[ There's a softer squeak-like sound as he brings both wings up, shielding his face. Omg, stoooop...??? ]

[He gives a light laugh at that reaction, and leans down, placing a gentle kiss to one of the wings.]

Not gross at all.

[Kurama watches the two of them fondly from his spot on the floor.]

[ Very slowly, he's lowering the wings, head tilted at Akira. He's going to take a moment to stretch the wings out, but... There's something definitely awkward in the movements.

He's not remotely used to using them...

But, that doesn't stop him from flapping them. He manages to get... pretty high up into the air? Buuuuut...

... Well, it isn't too long after that, he's spiraling back down. Geronimo??? ]

[—oh! Akira watches, a smile growing on his face. When he starts falling, though, he reaches out with his hands, cupping them to neatly catch Akira in them.]

Woah! Gotcha.

[Kurama shakes himself and climbs to his feet. He rests his forepaws on Akira's leg as he leans in to nose gently at Ren after he's caught.]
